If you marry abroad, the foreign authority almost always asks for a certificate of no impediment with an apostille. The civil registry of your (last) Dutch place of residence issues the certificate. You send us the original document; we arrange the apostille at the court and return it. The certificate is valid for six months from the date it is drawn up, so plan the apostille straight after issue.
How does it work?
From order to an apostilled document: we take every step off your hands.
You place your order and choose the destination country.
You send your original certificate of no impediment to our intake address, or have the issuing authority deliver it there directly.
We present the document to the court on your behalf and have the apostille added.
You receive the apostilled document back by registered post, and digitally as well if you want that.
How your document reaches us
You send the original document to our intake address, or have the issuing authority deliver it there directly. Once it reaches us, we present it to the court on your behalf.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I request the certificate?
From the civil registry of your place of residence, or of your last Dutch place of residence if you now live abroad. The certificate costs €31.10.
How long is the certificate valid?
Six months from the date it is drawn up. Some countries apply shorter periods; check with the foreign authority and have the apostille placed right after issue.
Can a copy or scan be apostilled?
No. The court only apostilles the original paper certificate signed by the civil registrar.
For which countries is an apostille enough?
For the 120+ convention countries of the Apostille Convention. If you marry in a country that has not joined, legalisation through the embassy is needed.
