Do you need a Dutch court judgment or court order (such as a divorce or adoption order) abroad? Unlike other documents, the apostille can only be placed by the court that issued the decision. You send us a copy certified by the court clerk; we file the application at that court and return the apostilled document. The turnaround time differs per court.
How does it work?
From order to an apostilled document: we take every step off your hands.
You place your order and choose the destination country.
You send a copy of the judgment or order, certified by the court clerk, to our intake address.
We file the apostille application at the court that issued the decision.
You receive the apostilled document back by registered post, and digitally as well if you want that.
How your document reaches us
You send the original document to our intake address, or have the issuing authority deliver it there directly. Once it reaches us, we present it to the court on your behalf.
The apostille on a judgment or court order can only be placed by the court that issued the decision. The turnaround time therefore depends on that court and can differ from our standard window.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the apostille have to come from the issuing court?
For judgments and court orders, only the court that issued the decision places the apostille. That differs from other documents, which any court can handle. The turnaround time therefore varies per court.
Which copy do I need?
A copy certified by the court clerk, with the clerk's original signature. A plain photocopy or scan without that original signature will be refused by the court.
I have lost my divorce decree. What now?
You can request a copy free of charge from the court that pronounced the divorce. This is possible for decisions from 1990 onwards.
Does the standard 5-9 working-day window apply?
Not always. Because only the issuing court may place the apostille, the turnaround depends on that court and can take longer than our standard window.
