For a foreign procedure, appointment or registration you sometimes need to prove that you hold Dutch nationality. You request the proof of Dutch citizenship at the civil affairs desk of your municipality and send us the paper, signed version; we arrange the apostille at the court and return the document.
How does it work?
From order to an apostilled document: we take every step off your hands.
You place your order and choose the destination country.
You send your original proof of Dutch citizenship to our intake address, or have the issuing authority deliver it there directly.
We present the document to the court on your behalf and have the apostille added.
You receive the apostilled document back by registered post, and digitally as well if you want that.
How your document reaches us
You send the original document to our intake address, or have the issuing authority deliver it there directly. Once it reaches us, we present it to the court on your behalf.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I request the proof of Dutch citizenship?
At the civil affairs desk of the municipality where you live. The fee differs per municipality and is usually between €14 and €26.
Can a digital version be apostilled?
No. The court only apostilles the paper version with the municipality's original signature.
How long does the proof remain valid?
The receiving organisation decides how recent the proof must be. Request the document shortly before you need it and have it apostilled right away.
For which countries is an apostille enough?
For the 120+ convention countries of the Apostille Convention. For other countries, legalisation through the embassy is needed; in that case choose the request on our legalisation page.
