If you need to prove abroad that you have acknowledged your child, the authority often asks for an acknowledgement certificate with an apostille. You request a copy from the municipality where the acknowledgement took place and send it to us; we arrange the apostille at the court and return the document.
How does it work?
From order to an apostilled document: we take every step off your hands.
You place your order and choose the destination country.
You send a recent copy of the acknowledgement certificate to our intake address, or have the issuing authority deliver it there directly.
We present the document to the court on your behalf and have the apostille added.
You receive the apostilled document back by registered post, and digitally as well if you want that.
How your document reaches us
You send the original document to our intake address, or have the issuing authority deliver it there directly. Once it reaches us, we present it to the court on your behalf.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I request the acknowledgement certificate?
From the municipality where the acknowledgement took place. That municipality holds the certificate and issues the copy.
Is there an alternative to the acknowledgement certificate?
Yes. A copy of the birth certificate carrying the later acknowledgement annotation contains the same information. You request it from your child's municipality of birth; many foreign authorities accept this alternative.
Can I have a scan or photocopy apostilled?
No. Only the paper copy with the municipality's original signature qualifies for an apostille.
For which countries is an apostille enough?
For the 120+ convention countries of the Apostille Convention. If the destination country has not joined, legalisation through the embassy is needed; in that case choose the request on our legalisation page.
